What are quests?
[Re]Evolver publishes a series of regular articles we call “quests.” These quests usually involve some sort of challenge, something that a person of mediocre fitness can be assured of being able to accomplish. They were designed to re-acquaint a person with that fundamental pioneer spirit that seems to have gone by the wayside in recent times.

Each quest we publish has a key at the top in which we identify the five descriptors for that quest:

  • Title
  • Discipline (which clan is predominant over this particular quest)
  • Rank (the quests are ranked by 10 levels of difficulty and advancement)
  • The quest designation number and
  • Difficulty

What are the quests like?
They’re agonizing. Grueling. Once you’ve done the first one you’ll think you’ve been through boot camp. After the second one, you’ll swear you’d just crossed the river Styx and entered Hades. Er…not really. Actually, for the most part they’re fairly easy. The quests are a simple way of giving people tasks to complete, fun tasks that emphasize sustainability, the outdoors, and good, old-fashioned skillsets. There are some toughies, but those come later on.

The quests never become so difficult that a person of mediocre fitness couldn’t conceivably work through them. For the most part, let’s say this: if you can walk a mile, you can accomplish any quest in the [Re]Evolver Quest Compendium. Not all the quests require physical exertion, anyway. Some of the quests are technology-based. Some are little more than a scavenger hunt. In its heart of hearts, [Re]Evolver is a task-oriented game. We just present it in a blog format. The quests are designed to reacquaint people with a side of life many of us have lost touch with, as well as with nature and the outdoors.

The quests, as they are, are just a game. If you accomplish one, we hope you’ll let us know and tell us about the experience. There may even be prizes involved…stay tuned ;)

A new day
